
Ever heard the saying “I yam what I eat,” or “I yam in love with love” well a new law in the sate of Mississippi, may have some people saying “This is so yammy.”
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves has signed Senate House Bill 2382 into law, which as of July 1st, will make the Sweet Potato the official vegetable for the state of Mississippi.
Sweet Potato is known as a comfort food and used in many dishes; that people like Zach Goforth, and Margie Taylor love to this day.
“I like them baked. My grandma used to bake them. Of course she would put the butter, the brown sugar, and all the fixings in there so I remember that,” said Goforth.
“They’re good for you, you can fix them in so many ways. I love the sweet potato fries, sweet potato casserole, baked sweet potatoes, anyway you can fix them,” said Taylor
Twin States News also wanted to know if people felt any other vegetable was worthy to be the official vegetable for Mississippi.
“Well, it really is not because is one of my favorites. It might not be for everybody, but I love sweet potatoes,” said Taylor.
As many people say the state of Idaho is “Home of the Potato,” the state of Mississippi will soon be represented in vegetables by the sweet potato.
