KUTZTOWN, Pa. – People at the Kutztown Fairgrounds are getting ready for a special event happening Friday.
“We’re doing a fundraiser for the for the Friends of the Farm Show Foundation,” said Nathan Tallman, CEO Pennsylvania Co-Operative Potato Growers. “They sponsor the calving corner at Farm Show. They sponsor the mid-winter convention for our young FFA students.”
Farmers partnered up to showcase fan-favorite products.
“We’re going to have Pennsylvania Co-Operative Potato Growers’ potato doughnuts. We’re going to have the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association milkshakes,” Tallman said. “Those are the two hallmark items from Farm Show, and we’re bringing them to the Kutztown fairgrounds.”
It all takes place on Good Friday.
“You just have a nice warm potato doughnut, and wash it down with that milkshake,” Tallman said. “While you’re supporting agriculture and the Friends of Farm Show, all three are nonprofit organizations trying to promote agriculture.”
Agriculture is Pennsylvania’s No. 1 industry, and farm shows are the perfect way to learn all about it.
“People can learn how honey is extracted, how potatoes are grown, how a cow has a calf in the dairy corner,” Tallman said. “You just you can snuggle a goat, and then you can enjoy it with all that good food. And that just ties the whole event together.”
The “Good Friday Donut & Shake Event” takes place from noon to 5 p.m. at Kutztown Fairgrounds on April 18.
